H D Kote mishap: 3 women still critical

Three women, who were injured when a Maruti Alto car mowed down five garment factory workers in Hyrige village of H D Kote taluk in the wee hours of Saturday, are said to be in a critical state.

The three women have been identified as Ratnamma, Mangalamma and Suma. Four others are said to be recuperating from the injuries. Jayalakshmi, Rekha and Shobha, who were also among the injured have been shifted to K R Hospital in Mysore for treatment.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, MLC Siddaraju announced that he would provide Rs 25,000 each to the injured.

Police sources said the car driver involved in mowing down the five garment workers is still at large.

While Gokul Das Garments has announced an ex gratia of Rs one lakh for the kin of deceased, Rs one lakh would be given from the chief minister’s relief fund, said tahsildar N C Jagadish.

Pedestrian dies

Even as the news of five garment factory workers being mowed down by a car in Hyrige village of H D Kote taluk is still fresh in the mind’s of people, another pedestrian who was mowed down by a motorbike at Hebbala road in the taluk on Saturday passed away at K R Hospital on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Chennegowda U Khajanegowda (85). He was hit by Venkatesh, son of Kalegowda a resident of Annur in the taluk.
