'I hope we can take this momentum forward'

A relieved Virat Kohli said he is satisfied as his team Royal Challengers Bangalore won their crucial encounter against table-toppers Delhi Daredevils to keep themselves alive in the tournament.

Local boy Kohli (73), who shared an unbeaten 204-run stand for the second wicket with man of the match Chris Gayle (128), also said that he was happy to finally be among the runs in this edtion.

“It was an important match for us and I am satisfied that we won. Personally, I did have not had a good tournament, so getting some form at this stage was important for me. I hope we can take this momentum into the next match,” Kohli said after his team’s 21-runs victory on Thursday.

 Gayle, who hit 13 sixes during his knock, praised the good strip at Kotla. “It helps to have a pitch where the ball comes up to the bat. Thanks to Virat Kohli for his support on the other end. Daredevils are a balanced side, they have done well to be at the top. We are happy to have pulled off a win today,” the West Indian marauder said.

Daredevils skipper Mahela Jayawardene admitted Gayle took the match away from them.

“He is in tremendous form. It is a small ground and it was always going to be difficult to contain boundaries. Still we could almost chase down the total. There are a lot of positives to take from the match. Ross Taylor’s form is one of them. We need tojust try and improve from here on,” he said.
