Rangapravesha today

Engineering graduate Pavithra Joshi is all set to perform her rangapravesha on May 26 at 5.30 pm at Jagan Mohan Palace auditorium.

Prof Ashish Mohan Khokar will inaugurate the programme, IGP and director, Karnataka Police Academy Amar Kumar Pandey will preside, Doordarshan deputy director general Mahesh Joshi will be the chief guest and guests of honour are Dr C G Narasimhan, Padmini Ramachandra and R Tara.

The accompanying artistes include Vasundhara Doraswamy (natuvanga), vocals by Vasudha Balakrishna, Hanumantharaju on mridanga, Krishna Prasad on flute and Thandav Murthy will play the violin.

After graduating in computer science from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering in 2009, she started her professional career with Deloitte Consulting LLP, with stints at Hyderabad, Bangalore and USA.

But somewhere the call of the divine art form compelled her to quit her lucrative job and come back to Mysore to pursue her non-academic interest. As a devoted student of dance under the guidance of ‘Amma’ Dr Vasundhara Doraswamy, she will perform on stage.

Pavithra Joshi, 24, is the daughter of Dr Venkatesh Joshi and Meera Joshi and sister of Dr Pavan M Joshi. Pavithra has performed at Chiguru Sanje, Pallavothsava, Lakkundi Uthasava and ISKCON, Bangalore. She has performed with her guru in some of her well-known choreographies such as ‘Discovery of India’ and ‘Chalukya Vaibhava.’
