JD(S) will lose next elections: Nayak

Last Updated 26 May 2012, 17:06 IST

Rajya Sabha member Shantharam Nayak opined that the JD(S) was playing the villain’s role in state politics. “In the next elections, the party will lose heavily in its  home turf Hassan itself,” he warned.

Speaking to mediapersons after holding a meeting with Congress party workers here on Saturday, he said: “Every political party wants to come to power. But the JD(S), instead of concentrating on winning, is only trying to ensure that the Congress loses in all the elections. It is helping the BJP indirectly.

This was clear during the recently held Udupi Chikmagalur Lok Sabha byelections. During the next elections people will teach the JD(S) a lesson.”

Slamming the state government, Nayak said the BJP had ruined the reputation of the state.

Nayak was against giving tickets to retired IAS and IPS officers. He said several parties have been doing it.  They should be given tickets only if they serve as volunteers for at least five years in the party.

Congress district unit president B Shivaramu and former MLA S M Anand were present.
