BCCI hands over cheques

The fourth and final instalment of BCCI’s one-time monetary benefit scheme to former cricketers was handed over here before the IPL-5 final between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.

The final set also included 34 widows of former cricketers whose cheques, totalling over Rs 15 crores, were received by wives of Vinoo Mankad, Eknath Solkar, Ramakant Desai and Kripal Singh.

The list also included former India skippers Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, S Vankataraghavan, Bishen Singh Bedi and former pace spearhead Javagal Srinath among others who were presented with cheques amounting to Rs 70 crore.

List of invitees: Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, S Vankataraghavan and Javagal Srinath (100 or more Tests); Navjot Singh Sidhu (50-74 Tests); BS Chandrashekar, Bishen Bedi and Sanjay Manjrekar (50-74 Tests); FM Engineer and Shivlal Yadav (25-49 Tests); Abbas Ali Baig (1-9 Tests); Rajinder Goel, Amarjeet Kaypee and S Hyder Ali (100 or more first-class matches); K Bhaskar Pillai, Col G Inderdev, CD Gopinath and V Sivaramkrishnan (75-99 first-class matches).
