The second day of Jnana Degula saw hundreds of enthusiastic students and parents scouting for colleges of their choice. Despite scores of new courses out there, a majority of the students who attended the fair seemed to prefer engineering.

“Engineering and MCA are the most popular courses among students and most parents are keen to know about the cutoffs. However, all of them want to wait till the CET results are out before they take any decision,” said Anurag Nath, a lecturer at Dayanand Sagar Institution.

H Muralidharan from MS Ramaiah College said though the college offers a diverse range of courses, engineering still seems to be a common choice for most students. “The most common question I receive from students is about placements as in the end, this decides their career.”

H N Shankar from CMR Institute of Technology observed that Electrical Engineering, in particular, was favoured by many.

Colleges such as the College of Fine Arts also received many queries from the students.

“Students are keen to know job opportunities in Fine Arts and facilities offered by us,” said Suprith Adiga, a professor at the College of Fine Arts.
