Nemmadi Kendras in distress in Mudigere

Last Updated 28 May 2012, 17:21 IST

The Nemmadi Kendras in Mudigere taluk including the one in the taluk centre are the cause of concern now. Despite standing in queue for hours, the people have been failing to obtain the documents they seek from the centre, leading to chaos.

With several rural areas having added to some of the Nemmadi Kendras recently and with the school and college re-opening date approaching the number of people seeking various documents has doubled. The delay in issue of the documents has been creating contempt among the people. Technical problems pertaining to computers and printing is said to be the main reason for the delay.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, a woman who had arrived at the Kendra to obtain income certificate said that she could not collect the income certificate yet despite visiting the Kendra several time. “I needed it to admit my child to the school under the Right to Education Act. The deadline for submitting application under RTE has already passed, but I have not yet received the certificate from the Kendra,” she lamented.

Nemmadi Kendra Staff Organisation State Unit Secretary Jayaprakash said that Myshore IT Solution Pvt Ltd has been managing the Nemmadi Kendra in the State and the company has appointed only one staff at one centre. As Nemmadi Kendras have to handle even the banking work, one given staff can not manage things,” he said.

He further added that technical problems like trouble in the machines would again delay the work in the Kendra. Many a times, the centres are not even supplied with papers and other needs even after a week of the materials getting empty.

Amidst all these problems, the staff at the centre manage to dispose 150 to 200 applications everyday.
