Last Updated 28 May 2012, 18:48 IST

Kasargod is all set to become the first district in the country where all the local bodies would be equipped with computerised accounting system.

The official declaration of this achievement will be done by Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in June.

Zilla Panchayat, three municipalities, six block panchayats and 38 gram panchayats will come under the e-accounting system.

The project is being implemented in the district with the help of a software ‘Sankhya’ developed by Information Kerala Mission (IKM), a Kerala government agency.

The system will help in all the transactions including tax payment, birth/death registration and other financial dealings to be done completely through e-accounting facility, said sources in IKM. The government is planning to implement the project in other districts of the state by 2013.
