Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal on Tuesday favoured a redefinition of literacy in relation to the huge technological jump and the needs of 21st century.
Sibal said this while inaugurating the 4th international policy dialogue forum on teacher challenges for education for all, here.
He called upon UNESCO to take a lead towards this effort. The Minister also inaugurated a walk-in exhibition for showcasing contemporary approach to teacher education in India.
Sibal said despite the progress in the field of education, a lot more needs to be done in regions where challenges are the greatest.
