<p>Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday inaugurated a new office of the income tax department at the tallest building in the national capital – the civic centre.<br /><br /></p>.<p>While the department’s office at the ITO would continue to operate from the heritage building, the new building called “Pratyaksh Kar Bhawan”, will house the offices of salary charges, non-corporate charges, international taxation, exemption and other allied charges, accommodating nearly 800 officers and 1,500 other staff members, an income tax official said.<br /><br />“With better facilities at the new office, I am sure the department would continue to deliver better services to the tax payer,” Mukherjee said.</p>
