Delhi Minorities Commission in association with Jamia Millia University is organising a week-long workshop on personality development for minority students, starting June 11.

This workshop is meant for school dropouts and those who have not studied in English medium schools. It will be conducted from 3 pm to 5 pm and continue till June 16 at Jamia’s engineering auditorium.

“Minority students from high school to post graduation can register for the workshop.

We did not have any space, so we requested the vice chancellor of Jamia Millia University to provide us some space to run this on a pilot basis. If it is successful, we will take it forward and spread this to other parts of the city,” said Safdar H Khan, chairman of DMC.

Khan added that the main purpose is to enhance communication skills among minority youths for better employment opportunities. “Youths should join this workshop as it will help them crack interviews at multi-national companies,” he said.

Munawwar Zaman, noted trainer who won the Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award, will be training students to enhance their skills in spoken English, communication, inter-personal relations and cracking job interviews in a better manner.

The registration forms are available online on the commission’s website and can also be obtained from Habib Khan, section officer at Jamila Millia and New Era Public school in Noor Nagar.

Pushpinder Singh, member of the commission said such initiatives should be encouraged in the minority dominated areas to boost students’ confidence.
The commission is expecting more students from Okhla and neighbouring areas for this workshop.
