Eligibility revised for B Ed course

The minimum eligibility for the general category students has been brought down to 45 per cent from the present 50 per cent, while for the SC/ST students, it has come down from 45 per cent to 40 per cent.

The Cabinet approved amendment of B Ed rules, 1999 in a bid to to encourage students to take up B Ed course.

The Cabinet, however, deferred its decision on the issue of regularising teachers and principals working on contract basis in Morarji Desai Residential Schools coming under the Social Welfare Department.

The Cabinet exempted the Wine Board from paying lease amount for using 141.28 acre land in Bijapur. The land has been given to the Board on lease to set up a wine park.

It also decided to waive off Rs 5 crore interest on arrears that slum-dwellers across the State have to pay to the KWSSB towards drinking water supply. Other decisions include supply of seeds to farmers at 75 pc subsidy during Rabi season; release Rs five crore for Vishwa Kannada Sammelana in Belgaum and providing alternative residential sites to those who have lost their land for Upparahalli ROB project in Tumkur.
