Police nab 7 dacoits

Seven dacoits, including three women, were arrested by the Belthangady police, at Charmadi Check post. The dacoits were produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days.

The arrested are  N Basavraj (23), Lokesh (24), Ganesh (25), Saroha (44), Kavita (28), Manjula (35) and Srinivas alias Sheena (25) from Tamil Nadu. The gang was involved in several dacoity cases.

The gang was arrested under the guidance of SP Abhishek Goyal and ASP Anucheth. Three special teams were formed to nab the gang.

The gang was nabbed by the teams headed by Belthangady Circle Inspector Bhaskar Rai and S I Yogesh Kumar. The gang who were travelling in a vehicle had robbed an individual on May 30 near Ujire. They had taken away a sum of Rs 6,640, ATM card and mobile phone.
