'Find effective ways to tap rural potential'

Banks are making innovative inclusive attempts to bring this often neglected section, mainly belonging to the lower strata / underprivileged section of the society to the banking fold, said Corporation Bank General Manager B R Bhat.

Speaking after inaugurating the Banking and Finance Association ‘BanCore,’ he urged the young Management students of the Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management (JKSIM), Nitte, he prevailed upon them to work towards finding effective ways and means to tap the rural potential and accordingly plan various pilot projects in the rural areas towards redefining the whole gamut of the rural economy and bringing about a perceptible change in the lives of the rural population by encashing on technological developments.

Innovative customer centric banking is the need of the hour and capturing the imagination and loyalty of the customers would facilitate banks to do better. CBS is a thing of the past and is no more a novelty, he added.

Director of JKSIM Dr M S Moodithaya presided over the function.
Former Chairman of Syndicate Bank Dr N K Tingalaya, Professor Emeritus of JKSIM Dr N R Shetty and Professor Jayaram Shetty were present on the occasion.
