Ravi for action against 'black sheep' in BJP

State BJP spokesperson C T Ravi on Wednesday demanded that the party should take stringent action against those MLAs who cross-voted in the Legislative Council elections recently.

Addressing reporters, he said there was no need for a CBI probe to identify the ‘black sheep’ in the party who violated the whip. “Everybody knows who did it. It is in the interest of the party to take action against them,” he said.

A rotten fruit is enough to spoil the entire basket of fruits. Similarly, if no action is taken against the MLAs who cross-voted, they will not only continue to indulge in indiscipline, but also make others do so. The party leaders should not allow this to happen, Ravi said.

Those who cross-voted have their personal agenda in politics. They are least bothered about the party’s ideology and ethics. It is the right time for the leaders to act and cleanse the party, he said.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda had stated that no action could be taken against such MLAs as it was not possible to identify them.

Cabinet expansion

Ravi said the chief minister should immediately expand the Cabinet in the interest of the party. The party government has to give good administration before the next Assembly polls. For that, all portfolios should be properly managed.

Moreover, the party loyalists have been sidelined for the last four years. If the loyal MLAs are made ministers, the government can perform better, he said.

Party MLA Appachu Ranjan said MLAs loyal to the party would soon take a delegation to Delhi and meet the party leaders in this regard.

The delegation will apprise the leaders the need for expanding the cabinet and accommodating loyalists in the ministry, he said.
