Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East), Basavaraj Malagathi said the deceased constable shot himself in the head with a service pistol by locking himself in toilet at the airport cargo (Menzes Bobba) division in the evening between 6 and 6.30 pm. “The cause for suicide is unknown. Investigations are on” said Mr Malagathi.

A senior CISF official said Singh was a head constable on temporary duty. “He had recently come from Chandigarh airport and was on leave for a couple of days after arriving in Bangalore. There was no administrative/official problem with him. It is an unfortunate incident. It could have been a personal problem. We have ordered a ‘Court of Inquiry’ into the unnatural death of a CISF jawan” said the official.

He is a native of Chandigarh and was living alone at the CISF barracks in the City.

Auto fraud

KG Halli police arrested two persons in connection with an autorickshaw fraud and confiscated 17 autorickshaws worth Rs 17 lakh on Monday. Mohammad Sultan (24) and Raghavendra (31) have been arrested in this connection.

According to the police, one Mohammad Bakash Khan had taken a loan of Rs 23 lakh from Sri Rama Finance to purchase 23 autorickshaws from M/S Jatti Motors and had handed over the work of getting them registered  to the accused. By then the registration of two stroke autos was closed for Bangalore city. However the accused did not return the autos to Mohammad Bakashkhan. Later they gave back only three autos and assured that they would get the rest registered.

They however sold the remaining 20 autos posing as owners in Bangalore, Mysore and Mandya. They also cheated the new purchasers. Following complaints from Bakash Khan and the new buyers, KG Halli police arrested the duo and seized 17 of the 20 autos valued at Rs 17 lakhs.

Two-wheelers recovered

Halasoor Gate police arrested a youth and recovered eight two-wheelers worth around Rs 2.5 lakhs on Thursday.

They arrested Arun Kumar alias Arun (20) of Dasanapura in Nelamangala, a habitual offender used duplicate keys to scoot the vehicles. Four high-end model motorcycles and four mopeds were recovered from him.

Valuables snatched

Two motorcycle borne miscreants waylaid two youths and snatched a gold chain and two mobile phones on 18th Main, Jayanagar on Wednesday night.

The complainant Aditya Tiwari (25) has stated that while he and his friend were on their way home, two youths on a bike bumped into them and threatened them at knifepoint.

2 arrested for robbery

Two thieves involved in a robbery case in Basaweshwar Nagar limits landed in police custody. The arrested were Ravi Kumar alias Abbigere Ravi (25) of Seshadripuram and Manjunath alias Auto Manju (26) from JC Nagar. The police said, Satyaprakash, a Basaweshwar Nagar resident had requested Ravi to look out for a leased accommodation to the tune of Rs 5 lakh. On hearing this, Ravi roped in Manju and barged into Satyaprakash's house.

They attacked Satyaprakash and his mother and made away with Rs 2.5 lakh worth ornaments.
