EWS quarters: Interim order extended

Justice Venugopala Gowda has extended the interim order until the disposal of the writ appeal.

In another matter, Messrs Maverick Holdings Limited (MHL) challenged the administrative decision of Chief Justice to post the matter before Justice A N Venugopala Gowda.

Messrs Akruthi City Limited, Mumbai, had challenged the awarding of tender to MHL for construction of 1640 EWS quarters, as well as commercial buildings, on a 15-acre plot in Ejipura in the City.

The court had stayed the operation of the government order, dated 26 September 2008, granting tender in favour of MHL. The petitioners had contended that earlier in 2006, the same tender was cancelled, and it has now been awarded after records and reports have been tampered with.
