Cop killed in accident

 A 41-year-old Delhi Police constable was killed after being hit by a speeding motorcycle when he was crossing a road in Civil Lines area in north Delhi, police said on Friday.

The victim has been identified as Ram Kewal Singh Yadav, of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

“Ram was crossing a road near Vidhan Sabha bus stop when the accident took place at around 7:45 pm on Thursday. He and the motorcyclist, identified as Akram, suffered serious injuries,” a police official said.

A police control room vehicle took them to nearby Sushruta Trauma Centre. “Ram was later referred to Lok Nayak Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning. Akram is recuperating at Sushruta Trauma Centre,” the official added.

The incident happened when Ram was going on foot to his night shift at Civil Lines police station.

A case of rash driving and causing death by negligence was registered against Akram under sections 279 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code.

Police have seized the vehicle and will arrest Akram after he gets discharged.
Ram’s family members have been informed and will be handed over the body after post-mortem.
