Open School classes begin in Vamanjoor

The academic year of Karnataka Open School (KOS) for the year 2012-2013, at St Raymond’s High School in Vamanjoor was inaugurated by Sr Winjoy, the Head Mistress of St Raymond’s High School.

KOS is a ray of hope to all the dropouts to complete the SSLC education. All those who have completed 15 years of age and above, with VIIth Std passed or failed are eligible to join KOS and complete their SSLC and can continue their studies.

This school was started in 1996 by the Bethany Sisters. So far, 1,342 students have benefited from this school. The coaching classes are conducted on every Sunday and the exams twice a year.

Admissions are done twice in a year, in June – July and next in November- December every year.
KOS is affiliated to Karnataka State Examination Board, Bangalore. This is the only school existing in South Kanara and Udupi districts.

Students, who have SSLC certificate from KOS, continue their studies in various colleges of the state and some of them are employed in Government Offices too.
This year around 40 students have enrolled for the course.
