TP decides to run schools with less strength

The Taluk Panchayat has resolved to temporarily run the higher primary schools, which have strength less than 20 students.

The decision was taken during the Taluk Panchayat meeting held to review various developmental work, on Monday under the presidentship of TP President Padmavathi Ramesh.

Block Education Officer Prakash informed that as many as seven higher primary
schools in the taluk have strength of less than 20 students.

Giving out information, the BEO said that Athikudige Higher primary school has three students, Haralane school has 18 students, Bairedevara has 18 students, Athikudige has 22 students, H Hosur has 17 students, Hokkalige has 19 students and Bevinakudige school has 17 students.

As many as 89 schools are facing shortage of teachers and ten teachers in the taluk have asked for transfer.

A total of 328 applications have come from Athikudige, Agalagandi and Guddethota Gram Panchayats, which are naxal affected areas for teachers’ recruitment. As many as 17 teachers have been selected. Process is on in these three Panchayats to recruit personnel to vacant positions in Forest Department, Social Welfare Department, Engineering Department, Women and Child Welfare Department and Health Department.

Agriculture Department Assistant Director Satyanarayana Rao said that the Agriculture Department has paid the second installment of funds under Suvarna Bhoomi Scheme.

The house expressed disappointment over massive hike in fertilizer cost. The meet urged the farmers only to pay the cost mentioned as MRP on the pack of fertilizers as many dealers have been charging additional cost as transportation cost.
Labour department official said that the department will take steps to enforce Rs 147.34 as daily wage for agriculture workers.
