“Lack of aggression” was cited as the reason for Geethu Anna Jose’s WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) dream coming to what then seemed like a premature end.

The Kerala-born player was not inducted in to the squads by WNBA sides Chicago Sky, Los Angeles Sparks and San Antonio Silver Stars last year after all the three teams said that the 6’2’’ forward ‘was promising but lacked aggression’.

Geethu, right after returning from the morale-sapping trip to the United States last year, vowed to become aggressive, and her efforts seem to have paid off.Geethu, who was part of the Indian women’s team which won gold at the third Asian Beach Games in China, has offers to play in leagues in Australia and Thailand.

Australian Big V season club Ringwood Hawks, who she had represented for three seasons (2006 to 2008), are looking to sign her up again. But Geethu has not committed to that idea yet as she has another interesting offer lined up. Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant’s father Joe Bryant, who was present during Geethu’s try-outs last year, has approached Geethu to play for the Bangkok Cobras in ASEAN Basketball League in Thailand.

“I have offers from Big V season club Ringwood Hawks for which I played three seasons.

Last two seasons I couldn’t play due to several reasons but this time they have approached me to play for them. At this moment, I am undecided but I will think about it before making a decision that helps my career,” said Geethu.

Talking about the former NBA player’s offer, Geethu said: “He watched me during the WNBA tryouts and said ‘WNBA missed you’. He made me an offer to play in Thailand. I am still undecided on both the offers,” she said.
