The BSP supremo also slammed the opposition parties, especially Congress, for opposing the parks and memorials and said that it showed their “anti-Dalit attitude”. “We have not violated the orders of the Supreme Court.... our government always follows the court orders...the government has filed an affidavit in this regard in the apex court”, Mayawati said while addressing BSP workers, senior leaders and ministers after inaugurating a 70-acre ‘green eco garden’ after party founder Kanshiram on the land where the district jail once existed before being demolished.

She squarely blamed the media for airing “false and baseless” reports in this regard and claimed that work was continuing only at places not covered by the apex court orders.
Mayawati also alleged that there was a conspiracy to stall the construction of the memorials of Dalit icons, saying ‘fake petitions’ were filed for this purpose. She slammed the opposition parties for opposing the memorials and said that it reflected their “anti-Dalit mindset”.
Mayawati said that no one opposed when the Congress recently announced a Rs 350 crore memorial for Chhatrapati Shivaji in Mumbai when assembly elections were round the corner. She ridiculed Congress ministers’ austerity drive and termed it as a “nautanki” (drama).
