35 die, 47 hurt in separate road accidents in UP

As many as 35 people, four of them members of a marriage party, were killed and 47 injured in separate road accidents in Uttar Pradesh today, police said.

Fifteen people were killed and 24 injured, two of them critically, when a bus carrying them dashed against a tree in Amroha district in the wee hours, they said.

The ill-fated bus, packed to capacity, was on its way to Kamalpura village in Sambal district from Haridwar when it met with the accident on Amroha-Joya road.

The victims were returning after attending a religious ceremony in Haridwar, police said adding the bus driver fled from the scene.

Five people were killed and 11 injured when their jeep was hit by a tanker near Sua Mohanpur village in Hathras district, police said.

In another accident, four members of a marriage party were killed and as many injured in a collision between their tractor-trolley and a truck near Bharatpur village in Fatehpur district.

In Sultanpur, five people were killed and three injured when the Howrah-Amritsar train hit their jeep at a railway crossing in Lambhua.

Three people were killed on Jhansi-Kanpur national highway this morning, police said.

In Kanshiram Nagar, two people were killed and another was injured when their car hit a roadside tree in Soron area.

Another person was killed and four were injured when their tempo overturned in Fatehpur district.

The injured were admitted to a hospital, police said.
