Explosion in car at Safdarjung

An explosion took place in a car in south Delhi due to overheating in the radiator. No one was injured.

The incident took place in Safdurjung Enclave around 10 pm and forensic teams were immediately rushed to the spot.

“Due to overheating in the radiator, there was an explosion in the car. It is not a serious matter,” a senior police official said.

No one was injured in the incident, he said.

Nepali national arrested

One Nepali national was arrested here allegedly with 10 kg of charas worth around Rs 10 lakh, police said on Monday.

Deepak Shamsher Thapa, 37, was apprehended from Majnu Ka Teela when he came there allegedly to deliver a consignment of drugs to one of his clients.

Thapa told police that he had started business in Nepal but later had to wind up there. Two years ago, he came to India and started doing casual labour.

Since last six months he started importing shoes from Nepal and sold them in Himachal Pradesh. Suresh used to send him charas in consignment of shoes.

On the instructions of Suresh, Deepak supplied the charas to the clients of Suresh in Delhi as well as sent the contraband to foreign countries through courier.
