The Supreme Court collegium today held its meeting to discuss the issue relating to the recommendation for elevation of Karnataka Chief Justice P D Dinakaran in the wake of demands for review of the decision.

The collegium meeting headed by Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan lasted for around 35-40 minutes, sources said.

The other four members of the collegium Justices B N Agrawal, S H Kapadia, Tarun Chatterjee and Altamas Kabir discussed the issue of Dinakaran against whom allegations of amassing of wealth were levelled by senior members of the Bar.

There was no official word immediately on what transpired at the meeting.

Justice Dinakaran, who is facing stiff opposition from the Bar over the collegium's recommendation for his elevation as a judge of the Supreme Court, had reportedly met the CJI last week and had denied all the allegations.

The Advocates Association of Bangalore (AAB) had yesterday held an emergent Special General Body meeting in the wake of the allegations against Dinakaran and urged him not not to preside over the bench till he is cleared of the allegations of amassing of wealth levelled against him.
