The five-year-old girl, who was brutally raped by two men in a mango orchard on Monday at Abbayyanapalya in Attibele, is fighting for her life at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health in the City.

The girl was operated upon on Tuesday by a team of experts. Dr Shivanand, Director, Indira Gandhi Institute for Child Health told Deccan Herald: “The girl was operated upon on Tuesday for genital tear. The procedure lasted six hours.

She is recovering from the trauma of brutal sexual assault and surgery and is presently in the ICU. Though her vitals are stable, her condition is still critical. It will take a long time for the girl to completely recover.”

Beloorappa, the girl’s father told Deccan Herald that he could not meet his daughter as the child was in the ICU.

“I have two daughters. I just hope my little kid comes out of this trauma. The doctors have been treating my daughter well and have not been demanded any money. I want the two boys to be punished stringently,” he said, sobbing.

The Attibele police have arrested Madhu, 19, a private bus conductor and Vijay Kumar, 30, a worker at a garment factory. They were produced before the magistrate of the Bangalore SC/ST Special Court in the evening.
