Govt to review SC, ST edn schemes' progress

The Human Resource Development Ministry has set up various taskforces to review the implementation of schemes meant for promoting education among scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and differently abled students.

The Ministry also set up a standing committee, to be headed by D Purandeswari, which will monitor the implementation of schemes aimed at educational opportunities of SCs, STs and differntly abled students and suggest measures for enhancing their access to quality inclusive education.

The decision was taken at the first meeting of the National Monitoring Committee for Education of SCs, STs and Persons with Disabilities, headed by HRD Minister Kapil Sibal on Wednesday.
