Last Updated 28 June 2012, 20:33 IST

With the announcement of the second cut-off list on Thursday for on-going Delhi University admissions, students are likely to feel disappointment as admissions in Arts and Commerce courses like Sociology (H), Political Science (H), Geography (H) and BCom (H) and Economics (H) in most of the colleges have been closed.

In Science, admissions to Physics (H), Chemistry (H), Zoology (H) and Botany (H) have been closed.

Campus colleges such as Hansraj, Daulat Ram, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) have closed admissions for BCom courses. Ramjas, Miranda House, Kirori Mal College (KMC) and Hindu closed admissions in their most sought-after Arts courses.

Seats got full after the first cut-off of Sociology (H) in Hindu College and Miranda House College came out. There are no seats available in Geography (H) and Hindi (H) in Miranda House.

KMC is no more giving admissions in Geography (H), BA and Economics (H). Ramjas College has closed admissions for BA and Political Science (H). Hansraj College closed its admissions in English (H).

However, this is not the end of the road as there is still some hope for the DU aspirants. Some college officials say few seats are vacant in the some of the most popular courses.
Eighty seats out of 123 have been secured in Economics (H) at SRCC on the second day. Few seats are available in the general category.

Mostly admissions for the general category students have been closed. However, they are still open for Other Backward Classes (OBC) category students in most of the sought-after courses.

Officials feel campus colleges will see a huge rush in their BCom (H) and BCom (Pass) courses now that SRCC’s admissions in BCom (H) are over. Similarly, Lady Sri Ram (LSR) in South Campus has closed admissions for BA, Philosophy (H), Political Science (H), Psychology (H) and Sociology (H). Gargi College also declared its seats full for BA, BCom (H), History (H), Political Science (H), Applied Psychology (H).

All the seats English (H) in Kamala Nehru College are full. Sri Venkateshwara College closed its admissions for English (H) and History (H).

In Science courses, campus colleges Miranda House closed  admissions for Botany (H), Zoology (H), Maths (H). Ramjas also closed its admissions for Maths (H). Seats for BSc Physical and Life Sciences are full in Hansraj College.

Daulat Ram College has closed admissions for Chemistry (H), Zoology (H), Bio-Chemistry (H) and Maths (H). In Hindu College, seats for Botany (H) were declared full and seats in Physics, Zoology and Maths OBC seats were declared full. KMC will not take in any more students in Botany and Zoology.

A similar trend was seen in several off campus colleges like Acharya Narendra Dev, Dyal Singh (Morning and Evening), Moti Lal Nehru and Ram Lal Anand with admissions to selective courses in Science, Arts and Commerce being closed.
