JD(S) leader H D Revanna warned of staging a protest in front of Vidhana Soudha if the government fails to waive off farmers’ loans, solve the ‘pahani’ issue that rocked the district and other farmers’’ problems.

Speaking at a news conference here on Friday, he said the situation had turned so bad that the farmers were not able to get their ‘pahanis’ due to the failure of Bhoomi software and Nemmadi Kendras. He opposed the government seeking online applications for some of the schemes and alleged that it was indirectly benefiting some vested interests to make money.

Commenting on crop loss, he said potato seeds were sown at 50,000 acres of land in district and the failure of monsoon has caused huge loss to farmers.

He sought compensation for farmers suffering crop loss. He urged the government to waive of loans availed by farmers who have less then six acres of land. He also urged the Central government to take steps so that the benefits are extended to farmers who have taken loans from nationalised banks.

Revanna pointed out that even though there were several Union ministers, from Congress from the state, they were not taking any steps to solve the farmers’ problems.

He criticised the style of functioning of chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda and opined that if he was not able to provide a stable government, he should tender his resignation.
MLA H S Prakash, ZP president B R Sathyanarayana and others were present.
