JOIN USAngry residents thrashing the head master of a government higher primary school black and blue for allegedly molesting a girl studying in seventh standard has come to light in Mandya on Wednesday.
Upon receiving complaints that he was frequently molesting a seventh standard student, public gathered at the school premises and thrashed the head master Shivalingaiah. Some others who intervened immediately locked Shivalingaiah in a classroom and prevented him from further beating.
Hundreds of parents who gathered at the school tried to open the door of the locked classroom. Police who arrived at the spot brought the situation under control after dispersing the crowd. But the public demanded the police to handover Shivalingaiah to them.
DDPI deputy director Shivakumar and Mandya South Block Education officer Mahadev who arrived at the spot immediately, held discussions with the police. Later, police arrested Shivalingaiah and took him to West police station.
It is alleged that the head master took advantage of the situation and fondled her when she was alone. Upset over this, she refused to go to school the next day. When her parents asked her for the reason, she disclosed the sexual advances of the head master.
Irked over this, her parents, along with others went to the school, which resulted in heated arguments that turned violent.
A case had been registered. Further action would be taken based on the reports given by the police and the block education officer, said DDPI Shivakumar.
