Trapped labourer found dead

The body of Sabanna (24), who was trapped under the debris of the collapsed building at Garudacharpalya, was retrieved on Thursday.

The fire force in coordination with the disaster management team, the police and the BBMP continued the rescue operation all through the night on Wednesday.

By Thursday afternoon Sabanna’s body was found. Sabanna, who hailed from Ramasamudra in Yadgir district had come to the City some years ago with his mother Mahadevamma.

The rescue team and the BBMP officials later demolished the entire structure. After caving in, the building was precariously standing on the support of a single column. Moreover, the structure was found to be illegal.

Mahadevapura Police have registered a case against the owner of the building, Manjunath Nayak. He is still at large.
