Miscreants on damage spree held

Miscreants damaging the windshields of more than 40 cars that were parked in front of the houses at K R Puram, Pension Mohalla, Hemavathinagar and other layouts in the city has come to light on late Thursday night.

Police have taken ten youths into custody related to the incident. It is said that the incident must have occurred at around 1.30 after midnight. All the mosques in the city had arranged special prayers as part of Shabebarat on Thursday night and the incident occurred on the same night, has created tense environment in the city.

Superintendent of police Amit Singh said that a gang of youth around 18 to 20 years were roaming around on their motorbikes during late night.

The police immediately swung into action and have arrested 10 people. It is the handiwork of miscreants and has not been done on any other motive.

The cars were all recently bought and some of them were yet to be registered. In all, around 40 vehicles including cars and jeeps have been damaged. Vehicle owners who came to the police station to lodge a complaint then went to SP’s office. They demanded the miscreants be punished and they be provided with suitable compensation.
