4 branches of Saraswat bank open in Mangalore

Addressing at the inaugural of four branches of Saraswat Bank at T M A Pai International Convention Centre here on Saturday, Thakur said the economic potential as well as cultural, social and educational significance of Mangalore prompted the bank to open its branches in the city. He said that while the nation has around 1,700 urban co-operative banks, the Saraswat Bank stands in the first place in the sector. “We will exceed the performance of the largest state co-operative bank in the nation in near future,” he added.

Thakur said that about 72 per cent of the Indian people earn below Rs 20 per day. “Banks in India should play a major role in bringing changes in the economic condition of the poor,” he added.

GSB Seva Mandal Trustee Sathish Ram Nayak announced the launch of the ‘Apathu Nivarana Hana Yojane’ of the bank on the occasion. Nitte University Chancellor N Vinay Hegde was the chief guest on the occasion.

Mangalore City Corporation Mayor M Shanker Bhat, Manipal Media Network Limited Managing Director T Satish U Pai, eminent dermatologist Dr Ganesh S pai, Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) President S S Kamath, Campco President S R Rangamurthy, Karnataka Cashew Manufacturers Association former president Sadananda Prabhu, Mangalore SEZ COO A G Pai and Bank Vice Chairman K V Rangnekar were present.
