Vivek Shetty, Vasanthi Shetty, Revathi Shetty, Mohan Shetty and Shobha Shetty from Mangalore were severely injured while 14 others sustained minor injuries. The injured include a 6-month old child.
Suicide
A man said to be a habitual drunkard who attempted suicide by burning himself on September 18 at Hirgana in Karkala taluk, died in a hospital in Mangalore. Dayanand (32), a daily wager, had attempted suicide by pouring kerosene on himself. Though he was admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore, he succumbed to the injuries. A case has been registered.
