Four armed men robbed a 30-year-old woman at her residence in Moti Nagar area of west Delhi and decamped with cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees on Thursday afternoon.

Sujata, who stays with her husband Tilak Raj, two children and a nephew, was alone at her ground floor flat when the incident took place on Thursday.

“She says two men claiming to be courier agents had knocked at the door in the afternoon. When she opened the door, they forced their way inside the house and were later joined by two more men,” a police official said.

They were armed with knives and country made pistols and threatened Sujata to hand over the keys of a cabinet in which cash and jewellery were kept. Sources said the robbers then took out Rs 20,000 in cash and diamond, gold and silver jewellery worth around Rs 6 lakh.

They fled from the house after taping Sujata’s wrists, ankles and mouth. A case or robbery has been lodged at Moti Nagar police station.

Sujata’s husband Tilak works as a manager with a private company. He was at his office, while her children and nephew had gone to school.
