PM undergoes check-up, is 'hale and hearty'

“Everything is normal,” Srinath Reddy, who headed the team of four doctors that carried out the check-up, said. Reddy said Mumbai-based cardiologist, Ramakant Panda, who operated upon the prime minister in January, had flown to New Delhi for Singh’s check-up at his 7 Race Course Road residence.

Expressing satisfaction, Dr Panda said the prime minister was in the pink of his health, official sources said. The 76-year-old Singh had undergone a bypass surgery on January 24, which was conducted by a joint team of doctors from Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai, and AIIMS.

Singh has to undergo one routine check up every year apart from following the prescribed diet and exercise regimen. He will be heading the Indian delegation for the G-20 Summit to be held from September 24 in Pittsburg.
