Former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that he is ready to accept any post entrusted to him by the party high command.

Speaking to presspersons during his visit to Puttur on Monday, he said “I have two years tenure as a Council member to serve the people of the state. I am ready to accept any post entrusted to me by the High Command.”

He said “the BJP has given me all the positions including that of a Chief Minister in my political career. If the party wants me to strengthen the party by touring all the districts, I am ready to take up the task.”

To a query on D V Sadananda Gowda contesting from Puttur in the next Assembly election, he said “normally ticket is given to a person from the region in the BJP. It is left to the Party high command to decide on it.”

“I am not a casteist. I have only made an attempt to get the support of the community to the BJP and was not engaged in caste politics and groupism within the party. A few had tried to project me as a casteist, which has hurt my sentiment,” he said.

“As a chief minister, I had given nod for the new Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangalore. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 41 crore. Funds were released for the development of the district,” he added.

“I was the happiest person the day when Sakaala was launched in the state. I had decided to hand over the power after infighting within the party cropped up, four months ago. I had even discussed the issue with senior Sangh Parivar leaders and my wife.

However, they had advised me not to tender resignation unless asked for. Accordingly, I had dropped the idea of resignation four months ago.”

“The demise of late Dr V S Acharya was unforgettable and sad moment in my life. It was he who had taught me the minute details on administration,” Gowda said.

Later speaking at a felicitation programme, he said “the confusion within the party has not been solved. For the first time, a fulfledged cabinet has been formed in the state.

The administration will be carried out without any confusion in the future.” D V Sadananda Gowda was taken out in a procession from Krishna Nagara on the outskirts of Puttur to the venue. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Mallika Prasad, BJP district unit President Padmanabha Kottari and others were present.
