Pascal bail order on July 23

A fast track court will, on July 23, pronounce orders on the bail petition of Pascal Mazurier, an employee of the French Consulate, accused of raping his  three-year-nine-month-old daughter.

During the hearing on Monday, the counsel for the accused claimed that Mazurier enjoyed diplomatic immunity. Public prosecutor Ravindra and Cubbon Park sub-division Assistant Commissioner of Police Devaraj also submitted their arguments during the in-camera proceedings.

The ACP strongly opposed the granting of bail to Pascal citing three new grounds and sought time till the police got clarifications on the DNA test report from the Forensic Science Laboratory. The judge directed the police and the prosecution to submit the clarification report soon.
