JOIN USThe first-year degree students of Maharani Lakshmi Ammani College were glad to come to college, but are missing the good old days when they had less responsibilities on their shoulders and could have more fun.
“Everything is fine, except the college timings. We have college from 12 to 5 pm, which is really annoying. By the time we get home, we are very tired. We really hope the timings change so that we can devote more time to studying and extracurricular activities,” said Spoorthy, one of the students.
Though the students are relieved to get out of school, they admit that they miss their school friends.
“We do miss our friends but it’s nice to meet so many new people from different cultures and places. As of now, we are still trying to get to know people. Students are very friendly here and teachers extremely helpful. So, I am not finding it difficult at all,” said Ashwini, another first-year student.
“The college has a variety of courses. “There are spoken english courses as well and many students have taken that up. It helps us in improving our communication skills and we feel confident about facing interviews in the future,” said Rashmi Bai.
The college is also set to host a talent show for the freshers, where they will have a chance to portray their talent in front of their teachers, seniors and peers. “There are many who are participating in the talent show. I have not registered yet, though,” added Spoorthy.
The senior-junior relationship plays a very important role in a student’s life. The freshers feel their seniors are very helpful and friendly. “We haven’t had the opportunity to interact with them very closely, but they have been very welcoming till now. They helped me pick a course and told me what to avoid. I hope we get many more chances to interact with them,” explained Shweta.As of now, the students are trying to fit in among their peers and hope to have a lot of fun in college.
