Popular clothes brand Siyaram has joined the bandwagon of brands to introduce Italian fabrics to Bangaloreans. With a touch of Italian designs and the softness of Indian cotton, fashionistas in the City can look forward to a new experience.

‘Moretti’, the latest collection to be launched by Siyaram, is offering soft cotton fabrics which have an international look and appeal. “These fabrics are unique in their own way. They are softer.

They are carefully treated with liquid ammonia and silk protein and have been given an easy-care finish. These give great results like crease recovery, wrinkle resistance and many other qualities,” said Vinod Singh, the business head of ‘Moretti’.

The brand has been launched in South India and they will soon be launching accessories as well as apparels. “The fabric is imported and people can feel the difference — it is very soft and lustrous. We have Indianised the designs, but they do have a touch of Italian design as well. After we see the response in the market, we will introduce some more designs and concepts,” added Singh.

Checks, stripes and plain garments in conventional as well as unconventional colours like tomato red, coffee brown and indigo blue are part of the selection.

Along with these colours, regulars like black and white stripes, pinstripes and plain white fabric are also available.  With Italian designs and materials flooding the market, people have a wide range of choices.

Many retailers who had come to take a look at the fabric for business purposes said that the prospects were bright if the brand is marketed properly. “The range is pretty high-end and since the fabric is from Italy, the demand will be good. However, people today prefer to buy readymade shirts and trousers, instead of dress materials,” said Jay Kumar, a retailer.

“The fabric promises to have a high lustre and will also reduce the requirement  for ironing. There will be low shrinkage post washing and it will be brighter as well. We hope that we get a good response from the customers. This is something new that we have introduced and we are eager to receive feedback,” concluded Singh.
