Sharath, a one-and-a-half-year-old tiger, was suffering from kidney, related ailment for the past three months. Born in 2010 to Gowri and Tipu, the tiger was under special treatment at the Veterinary College. The visceral samples of the animal have been sent to the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals for clinical analysis to know the exact cause for the death. The BBP has 40 tigers housed in the safari.

A 15-year-old bear, Yamini, died at the Bear Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre at the Wildlife SOS on the BBP premises. The bear was suspected to have been suffering from tuberculosis for the past three months and it was critical since 15 days. The bear was rescued from Hampanakatte, Bellary, in 2009 from Khalendar family which used the animal for street performances.
