All schools must include a mandatory story telling class every week in schools. This will enhance the creativity of students who are influenced by an overwhelming amount of media, said author Chandrashekar Kambara.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a three-day literature workshop for children at the Bal Bhavan Society on Monday, Kambara called upon students to exercise their listening skills more than their visual skills to increase creativity.
“When you listen to a story, each of you would imagine a different picture of the characters involved. Every time a story is narrated, one tends to make alterations to it. This will enhance the creative skills of children,” the author said.
K G Venkatesh, director of department of Libraries, expressed disappointment at the dwindling number of children visiting the Indira Priyadarshini library at Cubbon Park.
