Rift widens between Jaipur BJP and 4 MLAs

The rift between Jaipur city unit of BJP and four city MLAs  has escalated after a letter written by the city president to the central leadership against these MLAs was leaked to the press.

The email has been sent to national BJP president Nitin Gadkari and top organisational leaders, including Saudan Singh, V Satish, P Murlidhar Rao and O P Kohli. The mail mentions about a few party MLAs who think they are bigger than the party. For these legislators, attending party programmes, is like an insult, the mail says.

The mail pertains to recent episode of four party MLAs from Jaipur- Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, Kalicharan Sarraf, Ashok Parnami and Mohan Gupta, skipping training programme for Jaipur leaders. Owing to their absence, the 4 MLAs were reportedly not allowed by the party to attend another training for SC/ST members.

In the mail, it has been cautioned that if the central party leadership remains blind to these developments, the BJP in Rajasthan will have to face consequences even worse than Karnataka. It has been requested to central leadership to take the issue of these MLAs seriously, as it’s very discomforting for party workers in state.

The mail ends cautioning the leadership that if suitable action is not taken by the leadership, the party will lose all assembly seats in Jaipur, just like it lost its Jaipur parliamentary seat in 2009 LS polls.

This episode is also indication of growing differences between the four MLAs and the party’s city unit headed by Shailendra Bhargava.

Reacting to the incident a state party office bearer said, “Any party member is free to confide with the central leadership, but the leakage of the communication is deplorable and an inquiry should be conducted from where the leak took place as it is a  confidential matter.”
