Candidates in the State are bracing themselves for an assault on emotions one way or another with the announcement of results. While most are neck deep in party meetings and meetings with polling agents, some are swearing by time tested methods of relaxation to cope with both a barrage of bouquets or brickbats that lies ahead.

Former chief minister and Congress candidate from Chikkaballapur Veerappa Moily returned on Friday after a few days at a nature cure facility and is warming up for the hectic schedule ahead with meetings.

He says, “There is no time for relaxation now. I just got back from a nature cure, but I have a series of meetings scheduled with poll agents and counting agents till results tomorrow.” He adds that despite the tiring schedule, he is relaxed and believes that it will be comfortable passage to the 15th Lok Sabha.

For Krishna Byregowda, the Congress candidate from Bangalore South the eve of counting day is like any other. He philosophically says, “Whatever happens we have to accept the people’s verdict. My day has been more or less routine and I have gone ahead with my daily public meeting and meetings with poll agents.”

Meanwhile, in the saffron camp too candidates are busy meeting their respective counting and poll agents.

For veteran politician and BJP candidate from Bangalore North  D B Chandre Gowda, impending results meant fulfilling pending visits to spritiual quarters.

Gowda was in the ashram of Sri  Balagangadharanath Swamiji on Friday to seek his blessings. But some candidates, for whom politics has been more an outcome than a source of income are taking the experience with a pinch of salt. Janardhan Swamy, the techie who is contesting on a BJP ticket from Chitradurga says, “I have enjoyed the journey thoroughly. I’m fully satisfied that I have contested elections legally, ethically and by the rule.”

The former super cop H T Sangliana too is unperturbed and is confident of  a positive result.

“I am completely relaxed and will probably unwind in the evening by browsing for a while,” he says. He adds that he will probably hit the bed early and hope for some sweet dreams.

Academician and JD(S) candidate from Bangalore South Prof K E Radhakrishna says he will spend the evening mostly with apolitical friends.

“Of course I would like to win but I have to accept the people’s verdict. My day is no different and I will probably watch a play or go to a musical concert,” he says with a touch of nonchalance.
