Minister reviews drought relief work

District in-charge minister V Somanna said that two ‘goshalas’ would be opened in each district in the backdrop of drought and relief programmes.

He was speaking after reviewing drought hit areas of the taluk and said, as government has considered the serious drought situation in district, it is bound to take appropriate measures. 

The government has already sanctioned Rs one crore per district for drought management, additional grants would be requested, he added.

Elaborating on drought management, he said, the process would be stepped up after the assembly session. He called upon officials to stress on drought relief making use of the funds.

He said, a task force for drought management would be formed after discussing with MLAs.

“Officials should concentrate on fodder supply to cattles.” MLA H S Mahadev Prasad, MLC K R Mallikarjunappa, Niranjan Kumar, deputy commissioner K R Sunder, ZP CEO M R Somashekarappa, assistant commissioner A B Basavaraju and others were present.
