Boy found dead in open sump

A three-year-old boy was found dead in a water sump in a house in AK Colony, Kodigehalli on Saturday. Pawan, the dead, was the son of Manjunath, a construction worker.

According to the statement given to police by Meenakshi, the mother of Pawan, she could not find her son to feed him breakfast and frantically searched for him in the vicinity of her house. She informed her husband and the couple searched for their son.

Manjunath searched an open water sump in a neighbouring house. He found the boy’s body floating in water. The Kodigehalli police retrieved the body and a post-mortem was conducted at the M S Ramaiah hospital.

The open sump belonged to one Venkatesh. He was getting the sump constructed and the work was almost over. But it had no lid and was left open. Kodigehalli police have booked a case against Venkatesh who has been absconding.

Youth ends life

A 21-year-old-youth was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his house on Saturday in Shankarapura. The deceased has been identified as Rajesh, a mason, and resident of Chikkanna Garden and. 

Police said Rajesh might have committed suicide on Friday night. 

It is said Rajesh had a tiff with his parents over a girl with whom he was in love. Rajesh was upset after his parents rejected his choice. He went to a room and hanged himself.

Rajesh’s family hailed from Tamil Nadu and came to Bangalore a few years ago. A case has been registered at the Shankarapura police station.
