<p>St Mary’s English Medium School, Udupi student Sandeep Rao Koradkal won the Young Scientist award, here at a programme organised by department of science and technology, Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat, at Field Marshal K M Cariappa College on Saturday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>St Joseph’s Boys High School, Chikmagalur student B C Nithin Vivek won the second place while Sankeshwar S S Patil English Medium School student Sajid R Dafedar has won third place. <br /><br />The first three winners won a cash prize of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.<br /><br />Zilla Panchayat VP H M Kaveri, Rajya Vijnana Parishat vice-president B Doddabasappa, College principal Prof K A Erappa and others were present. The programme is being held to encourage students at all age groups to get them interested in pure sciences and its applications. <br /><br />Ranjan in Somwarpet<br /><br />Minister for Youth Service and Sports Appacchu Ranjan dsitributed cheque of Rs 10,000 each to 110 beneficiaries under National Security scheme, here on Saturday. <br /><br />Speaking on the occasion, he said “few beneficiaries are not receiving the monthly honorarium under Sandhya Suraksha scheme. Such beneficiaries should submit applications to the Tahsildar office in the month of August.” <br /><br />Those poor families who do not possess BPL ration cards should submit the application forms to the respective gram panchayats by August 6. The applications would be processed at the earliest, minister said. <br /><br />Tahsildar K R Bhaskar, Shirasthedar Ganesh and others were present. <br /></p>
