Extern attackers, demands Congress

Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress former president Bondala Jagannath Shetty urged the district administration and the police to extern all those involved in attack on youth partying at a homestay in Padil.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday, he said that the attack on youth is a serious issue. However, the district administration and the police are trying to down play the issue, by clamping prohibitory order Section 144 in Mangalore city. By clamping prohibitory orders, all the organisations who are opposing the attack could not raise their voice in the form of protest.

The police should arrest Hindu Jagarana Vedike state convenor Jagadeesh Karanth for supporting the attack and terming Mangalore as a hub of prostitution.

He said “ADGP Bipin Gopalakrishna had probed into the communal incidents in Sullia and Uppinangady. However, all of us know what happened to the report submitted by him to the government. He may be a good officer but have succumbed to the pressure from the government in the previous incidents.” He said “the arrest and the release of BJP corporator also make us to raise our eyebrow as what made the police to release him so fast. As long as the police fail to arrest the brain behind the incident, such incidents will recur in Mangalore. It was the total failure of the police intelligence,” he said. Shetty urged the police to lift prohibitory order in Mangalore city.

Coming down heavily on District-in-Charge Minister C T Ravi’s statement that innocents will be protected, Shetty asked the Minister to clarify the term innocents.

The Minister has not held a meeting with the elected representatives in the incident. He has only convened a meeting of the officials.

The attack on women is an insult to the Hindu culture. Various mutt seers who come out openly and react on several issues, have failed to react on the attack on women in the name of Hindu culture.
