Lokayukta raids on 3 officials yield a bounty

The Lokayukta police on Tuesday raided the  three officials in Bangalore Rural, Chikmagalur and Mangalore, following complaints of them possessing assets disproportionate to their income. 

The raids at two premises of revenue inspector L C Veeresh in Anekal yielded documents pertaining to three houses with a total registration value of Rs 77 lakh, agricultural land in Devanahalli taluk measuring 10.5 acres and costing Rs 1.32 lakh, a site in Yeshwantpur hobli  worth Rs 1.16 lakh, another site in KR Puram whose value has not been ascertained. 

Documents pertaining to more agricultural land and residential sites have been found.

The total registration value of his property is Rs  94.89 lakh.  .He owns eight automobiles,  including cars like Xylo, Skoda, Innova, Ford and Santro, costing a total of Rs 55 lakh. Cash and jewellery amounting to Rs 14.81 lakh were also found. The police are yet to verify the details of his 12 bank accounts and contents in a bank locker. The police have estimated the percentage of disproportionate assets to be 131.

The Chikmagalur Lokayukta police raided four premises of the deputy director of Food and Civil Supplies Ratnakar Naik and recovered documents pertaining to three acres of land, 11.2 guntas of land, a house (all in Ujire) and a flat in Bijai at Kapikad, Mangalore, all worth around Rs 36.16 lakh. The total worth of his movable properties including cash and jewellery is Rs 39.16 lakh. Ratnakar joined service in 1983 as a first division assistant  the percentage of his disproportionate assets is pegged at 125.

The police also raided two premises belonging to G Rajagopal and recovered documents pertaining to land, buildings and shopping complex, amounting to Rs 39.75 lakh in registration value. 

The total value of his movable properties is estimated to be Rs 46.20 lakh and the disproportionate assets have been put at 116 per cent. He joined service as a daily wage employee in 1985 and was promoted as assistant town planning officer in Mangalore.
