Foundation stone for girls' orphanage laid

Speaking on the occasion, Thangal said that the education institutions and spiritual centres in Kodagu district excel in various fields and serve efficiently. “Many charitable organisations are functioning in the district since there are many donors in the region,” he said.

“The proposed girls orphanage should not be reserved only for Muslims. All deserved girls in the society should get the benefit of it. Development of the society can be made possible only when the benefits of charity was extended to the deserved people of all community,” Thangal opined.

It was education which helped Muslim community members to achieve in various fields. The first preaching of the holy Quran itself explains the importance of education. The Trust would solve the problem of educational backwardness in the region through the new scheme, he added.

Delivering the keynote address, Trust President C P M Basheer Haji said that the Rs 2 crore project will be taken up in four phases.

While the orphanage and rehabilitation centre will be taken up in the first phase, religious centre, computer training centre and technical education centres will be completed in the later phases.

The main aim of the project is to empower orphan girls, he said adding that donors from the district as well as from other states also had extended financial aid for the project.
